The Hybrid 4x4 was revolutionary because of it's inexpensive mdf construction. while this is great for a hobbiest and even for use in commercial industries , the thing that made the hybrid inexpensive and easy MDF carriages had to be addressed because of flexing under high loads and can be susceptible to moisture.

There was a need  for an industrial version of the hybrid for a heavy production environment the hybrid has evolved into the Evolution series. The Evo is used daily in many of our members businesses and holds up very well in a commercial environment. The Evo is durable and expandable with great repeatability and fast cut speeds.

The evo is accurate: The R&P system is based on a pinion with a 1" pitch circle. The total linear distance traveled per revolution of the pinion is thus 3.14159". With the 3:1 reduction, this means that the distance traveled per motor revolution is 3.14159 / 3, or 1.0472". If you have a stepper with 200 steps per revolution, this means you have 200 / 1.0472" = 190.9861 steps per inch, or 0.005236" per step. With 10x microstepping, you would have 1909.861 steps per inch, or 0.0005236" per step. For the optional 3/8" pulley, this number changes to 1736.237, as the motor pulley is slightly larger.

Adjustability: Every V groove bearing has its own custom made adjuster. All Axis can be easily tramed to dial the machine in. The gantry can be raised or lowered for a custom desired machine.

Versatile Just about any router, spindle, laser, plasma cutter, drag knives, plotter etc have been customised to fit the evo design.

scalable depending on what you plan to do with the machine or as your needs change. By changing the lenth of the aluminum extrutions the evo has been made from desktop size to over 16' long.

What makes the evo different is that it is an all metal design. All the carriages were redesigned out of 3/4 6061 t6 aluminum plate to replace all the mdf in the hybrid design.

The unistrut base that the Hybrid used was replaced by a stiffer stronger 2x2 welded steel base that does not flex in industrial applications. Many Kinds of heavy duty bases have been made by our members on their evolution builds that include wood, extruded aluminum, folding designs and even cement.

The 80/20 extruded aluminum X rails that the hybrid used were beefed up with 80/20 extrusions. This really simplified the design of the machine and make it stouter as well.
